Harris Poll Study

The Impact and Value of Chambers of Commerce

What the Harris Poll Reveals About the Growing Impact and Value of Chambers

Chambers of commerce are entering a new era, one defined by leadership, trust, and real community impact. A new national study conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) confirms what chambers across the country experience every day: local chambers are vital to strong businesses, resilient communities, and thriving local economies.

Long known for networking and advocacy, chambers are now stepping forward to address complex challenges such as workforce readiness, housing shortages, childcare affordability, and public safety. The result is a broader, more impactful role, one that resonates strongly with both the public and the business community.

When consumers recognize a business as a chamber member, that trust transfers. Membership signals credibility, community commitment, and leadership—key factors that influence purchasing decisions and brand loyalty.
