Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce Announces President and Chief Executive Officer

Industry Veteran Mark Stanton Tapped to Lead Scottdale Business Community

Scottsdale, Ariz. (April 26, 2018) – The Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Mark Stanton will be the president and chief executive officer for the organization.


“Mark brings a wealth of business development, marketing, and public affairs experience and expertise to the Chamber that will serve our members and mission well,” said Steve Helm, chairman of the board for the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce. “Our organization is the city’s longest-serving and most prominent voice on behalf of local area businesses, and we look to Mark’s talent and vision to lead the Chamber and serve the community.”

Stanton will succeed interim president and CEO Don Henninger. Following the transition in May, Henninger will return to his position as executive director of SCOTT (Scottsdale Coalition of Today & Tomorrow), a civic advocacy organization.

According to Henninger, Stanton brings dynamic leadership and experience to the position. “Mark has a strong business background, established community relationships and leadership skills that will continue guiding the Chamber by developing new opportunities and value for Chamber members,” he said.

Stanton has an accomplished background in marketing, communications, public affairs, and business development working with business, government, and non-profit organizations in the Valley. He has held leadership positions with prominent marketing and public relations agencies, and most recently managed his own business consulting practice. Previously, Stanton served as chief of staff for Maricopa County Board Supervisor Andy Kunasek – District 3 and as the deputy director of the Arizona Office of Tourism. In 2012, he was executive director of the Presidential Primary Debate held in Mesa, Ariz.

As a steward of the community, Stanton has served on the Board of Directors of Experience Scottsdale and as past chairman/member of the State of Arizona Personnel Board. He graduated from Scottsdale Leadership Class XVII and is a Life Member and past president of the Scottsdale Charros. In 2014 and 2016, Stanton was elected to serve on the Paradise Valley Town Council. In this volunteer position, he is an advocate for public safety, fiscal accountability and quality of life initiatives.

Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication and Political Science from the University of Denver. He and his wife Barb have two children.

Established in 1947, the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce‘s mission is building a vibrant and prosperous community through business leadership. The Chamber advocates on behalf of approximately 1,100 Business Members by leading on local economic development initiatives and engaging in a variety of public policy discussions and educational activities.
